Llanfyllin Workhouse Sessions

3rd Friday of every month
Llanfyllin Workhouse presents on the 3rd Friday of every month starting September 08 a diverse mix of traditional sessioning, dance classes and live bands. Each night will be different and refreshing. A band will play at the beginning of each night from 8pm and lead an open session afterwards. Triban
The first of our traditional music sessions featuring Triban. Award winning harpist Harriet Earis, fiddle player Jasper Salmon and singer-guitarist Ian Wyn Rowlands play a mixture of English & Welsh tunes, culminating in an open session led
by the band.

Friday 3rd October
Strum - It featuring Tony Skeggs and Luke Day
Strum-It is a regular acoustic night showcasing some of the best acoustic musicians from mid-Wales and beyond. Tony Skeggs plays classic acoustic songs and Luke Day is an up and coming ingenious young singer songwriter performing Bluegrass.

Sunday 5th October
Potted Potter
All seven Potter books in seventy minutes! Watch comic double act Dan and Jeff take on the ultimate challenge, with the help of endless costumes, brilliant songs, ridiculous props, and a generous helping of Hogwarts magic. This fantastically funny show features all your favourite characters, a special appearance from a very frightening fire-breathing dragon, and even a game of Quidditch involving the audience!
Doors open 6pm. Performance starts 6.30pm

Monday 13th October
Maddy Prior - Back to Tradition
Maddy will be accompanied by two of the most respected musicians working within the genre today, Benji Kirkpatrick and Giles Lewin, both members of the acclaimed English folk collective Bellowhead.
Please note that this is a Llanfyllin Workhouse event but will be held in Theatr Llwyn at Llanfyllin High School.

Friday 17th October
Omnium
The second of our traditional music sessions featuring Omnium. A feast of Breton and Irish dance and tunes; a hugely popular event, guaranteed to sell out. Culminates in an open session led by the band.

Friday 31st October
Last Minute Picture House Presents
A mystery film for Halloween. A themed night of ghoulish dressing up; film to be confirmed.
Doors open 9pm, screening at 10pm

Saturday 1st November
Fire and Light
A celebration of fire as
the winter nights draw in. A mesmerisinfg performance of sound and vision through the spectacle of fire.

Friday 7th November
Funk-It featuring Wierdstring Band and Poolside Tricks
Funk-It is a new eclectic night at the Workhouse. Wierdstring Band are three men, fourteen strings and a whole lot of wierdness back by popular demand after their superb performance at the Workhouse Festival. Poolside Tricks are a dynamic street reggae band from Welshpool.

Les Chiens de la Maison
Another traditional music session. Les Chiens de la maison were created out of the best of our regular traditional musicians from this years Workhouse Festival. Finishing off with an open session.

Strum-It featuring the Velvet Dukes and Neil Butler
Strum-It is a regular a
coustic night showcasing some of the best acoustic musicians from mid-Wales and beyond. The Velvet Dukes are making a name for themselves with their distinctive brand of acoustic jazz funk and Neil Butler is an inspirational singer/song writer from Llanfylin.
